Job Opportunity Position: Band Manager Position Summary: The Band Manager is responsible for the overall management of the First Nation administration matters. The Band Manager provides advice and support to the Chief and Council and is also responsible for the physical aspects of all First Nation departments including all the employees of those departments including all the employees of these departments. The Band Manager reports directly to the Chief and Council. Responsibilities: Participate in program management, financial planning and program development Independently plan, organize and prioritize extremely large workload Provide advice, guidance and recommendations to the Chief and Council on administrative and community issues Ensure regular reporting to the Chief and Council Communicate information, verbally and in writing that creates understanding and gains support Lead an effective integrated team promoting a team concept in delivery of services Supervision and evaluation of all key First Nation staff Qualifications Demonstrated management experience and background A well defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negations, conflict resolutions and people management skills Must have knowledge and understanding of policy and program development Excellent written and communication skills Must possess in-dept computer skills in Microsoft Word, spreadsheet and Internet navigation and communication Post Secondary Education a definite asset Knowledge of First Nation Treaties and Governance and of Band By-Laws Excellent Teamwork and Teambuilding Skills Ability to speak Island Lake Dialect and intimate awareness of Island Lake traditional values and culture Deadline for Resume: September 3, 2014 Interview Date: September 5, 2014 Please submit resumes to: Garden Hill First Nation (204) 456-2085 office (204) 456-9315 fax *Applicants will be screened and subjected to prior contact, criminal record check.
