July 03,1957 The American Congress passes Public Law 85-81, donating to the Republic of the Philippines the entire collection of Philippine Insurgent Records, the most extensive and important collection, of original documents on the Philippine Revolution. --President Carlos P. Garcia pins the Philippine Legion of Honor (degree of chief commander) on General Emilio Aguinaldo during the parade and review at Camp Muphy. July 03, 1902 The President of the United States terminates the office of the Military Governor in the Philippines. July 03, 1899 La Alhambra, a fortnightly review of arts and sciences edited by Jose Moreno de Lacalle and Pablo Cases, is published. --Issuance of paper currency is authorized in denominations of one, two, five, twenty, fifty and hundred pesos. Pedro A. Paterno, Mariano Limjap, and Telesforo Chuidian are empowered to sign them jointly or severally. --President Aguinaldo appoints Pablo Ocampo of Manila as the sole representative of the government of thes Philippine Republic in that city. July 03, 1892 Dr. Jose Rizal founds La Liga Filipina, one of the aims of which is to unite the Filipino people into a compact, vigorous and homogeneous body. July 03, 1887 After five years in the continent, Rizal leaves Europe, via Marseilles, for Manila. July 03, 1865 Birth of Jacinto Tolentino, Pampango and Tagalog writer. Died on January 28, 1932. July 03, 1618 Alfonso Fajardo y Tenza becomes governor-general of the Philippines. During his administration the College of Santo Tomas, now University of Santo Tomas is inaugurated and the Convent of Santa Clara is founded.
