July 20th 2013 Kutchis and Balochs of Lyari are Integral Parts of Sindhi Nation All designs to create infighting and displacement of people of Lyari shall be thwarted LONDON, World Sindhi Congress Executive Committee met yesterday to review the on-going infighting, violence and displacement of population from Lyari. Lyari is historically a home to indigenous communities of Sindh i.e. Kutchis, Samats, and Balochs who have been living in mutual harmony. But due to acute negligence of governing parties in Sindh and in the center, Lyari has seen highly increased poverty, violence and lawlessness in last decade. In addition, due to the meddling of various opposing factions of political parties the violence has escalated to an alarming degree, resulting into exodus of several thousands of Kutchi people and arbitrary attacks and arrests of Balochs. “Both the Kutchis and Balochs of Lyari are integral parts of Sindhi Nation,” said Dr Lakhu Luhano, Chairman of the World Sindhi Congress. “This the doing of political parties and their renegade groups who are trying to create rift and divide the peoples of Sindh for their power gain. None of these ruling parties in Sindh, i.e. PPP and MQM have done any significant development in Lyari,” said Dr. Rubina Shaikh, the Secretary General of World Sindhi Congress. WSC Executive committee collectively resolved that: Government shall stop the arbitrary arrests of Lyari people immediately Government shall rehabilitate and arrange the return of all the displaced people All the political leaders who are creating the hate and infighting must be punished and investigated WSC further asked the Nationalist parties, other progressive groups, intellectuals, writers and journalists throughout the Sindh to show their solidarity towards the people of Lyari and collectively work to create peace amongst all the groups and collectively oppose all these designs of dividing the People of Sindh.
