Just finished a book--Every Man Dies Alone, by Hans Fallada. - TopicsExpress

Just finished a book--Every Man Dies Alone, by Hans Fallada. Fallada lived during the time of Nazi Germany, so this book could be considered a primary source. The entire book is too complex to explain here, but the main story, based on true events, is about a couple who write and clandestinely distribute anti-Hitler postcards throughout Berlin. The are caught and sentenced to death by beheading. There is much more to the book than this. But what struck me is that the simple act of distributing anti-government postcards in Nazi Germany brings a death sentence, while on FB people say all kinds of things, all across the political spectrum. I think perhaps we take this freedom for granted. People have died for this freedom, faced prison sentences, public ridicule and more. In Hamilton County, OH, it is illegal to smoke cigarettes in public places. Im happy about that. But one of my friends points out that this could lead to the banning of more and more rights. Freedom is difficult to maintain and will never be.perfect. But, Gracias a Dios, we live in a country where no one can be sentenced to death for what they post on FB.
