Just received this email from a terminal cancer patient who was trying to renew her red card for 90 plants: I went to MMD docs today to start my card renewal. They received a letter yesterday from Dr. Wolk which is preventing them from writing recs for more than 6 plants. They gave me a copy of the letter. My printer isnt working, otherwise Id scan it in. The documentation requested from the physicians doesnt even exist. Rather than hold me to 6 plants for a year+, they gave me my money back & referred me to Amarimed, Dr. Schackelford, but nobody answers there. I can go back to MMD if I have to, but they think I need more than 6 plants & want to give me a shot at having those. Heres a paragraph from the letter: All physician certification forms with a recommendation above the constitutional standard will be reviewed by a public health physician to determine medical necessity. If medical necessity is not evident, the patients record(s) in the registry will be adjusted to the constitutional standard of six plants and two ounces. The types of information we expect to review when establishing medical necessity for increased plants/ounces includes documentation of objective metrics of safety and efficacy. Examples include patient progress notes detailing dose related effects; lab results, and diagnostic testing results (e.g. EEG reports for patients with epilepsy). In addition, we will also be asking physicians to submit or reference published peer-reviewed studies supporting the medical necessity for recommended increased amounts for specified conditions. I would have to submit the required medical documentation with my application packet.
