Just watched this movie from 2002 with two handsome men and Diane Lane. Then found the article: Books as Gifts Turned Trysts. In this movie books and other gifts are used as metaphors for evolving relationships. The gift that cemented/merged the triangle was a snow globe from Chicago, the windy city, in which Connies husband left her a note to read on their 25th anniversary and that also ended her affair with the man she met during a windstorm!! Sometimes two characters merge into one or represent the other in various ways I guess!! The most famous snow globe of course was from Citizen Kane, that kane was holding as he murmured Rosebud just before he died of old age.
