#JustBeforeWeDecide I know we all converge on this point- That Goodluck Jonathan is a bad deal for Nigeria. That he is indescribably despicable. That he his thoughtless and without any humane feelings. That his ability to conduct himself is not in the least capable of making him a good man not to mention a good leader or president. That he may boast a PhD but all evidences points in the direction of his dearth of knowledge and all things worthy of a leader. That the bad and the foul smell of his impunity, injustice, greed, short sightedness, lack of ambition, cluelessness, deceit and self centredness reaches to the high heavens But we should also be fair to agree to this; That GEJ got there on the heels of our shallow assessment of his capabilities and for that we should take responsibility. That it is foolish to demand the change we want from a man that never promised any. That it is wrong to expect so much from a man of sentiments who thought he deserved to be our president because he grew up with no shoes! Whenever I have the opportunity to ask, my question has always been this - Back in 2011, and during the events leading to the general presidential election, was there a promise GEJ made through a manifesto that five years on he hasnt fulfilled? He never made any promise, he didnt give a road map. Yet we all turned out to vote for him on the back of the fact that HE HAD NO SHOES! And think its unfair to demand anything from him, because the voters gave the shoeless marauder the opportunity to get what was most pressing to him... opportunity to get shoes and enough money to buy as much for as many. We gave him the opportunity on the platter of sentiment and not compatriotism. So just before we decide, let us thoroughly assess our options rather than have our decision fuelled by disgust, discontentment and impatience to get rid of this disaster of a government at all cost.
