KLIA2 flooded The problem of sinking surfaces in the apron and runway of KLIA2 is becoming an international joke as the authorities continue to deny the severity of the problem, a DAP lawmaker said today. Tony Pua said Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) had also failed to submit full reports on the airports operational status to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) despite having been requested to do so four weeks ago. He was referring to a YouTube video uploaded yesterday showing airport workers scooping water from the apron surface into the drain as the uneven surface caused water to collect on the surface. The problems are becoming an international joke. We want to know if the problems are really as minor as they say it is, he told a press conference in Parliament. The Petaling Jaya Utara MP also questioned if authorities are hiding anything by not submitting the requested report. In a written answer to Pua recently, the Transport Ministry said the surface sinking problems had already been taken into account by the government. This differential settlement had been taken into account during the construction itself, the ministry said. The operational safety and the flights in KLIA2 have not been affected due to this sinking, it added. MAHB already has a list of ready solutions to solve the problem, including overlaying the surface, the Transport Ministry added.
