Walking Oranges.. Being ToryTogether.. ! Hello, Thank you for providing this email address to PC Skirving when he visited you sometime over the past 2 weeks. The purpose of sending this email is to keep you informed of any further developments in relation to the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland Walk due to take place on Saturday 13th September 2014. Yesterday (Thursday 11th September 2014), The City of Edinburgh Council published the Temporary Traffic Regulation Order and I have attached a copy of the road closures and parking restrictions. If you are unable to open the attachment, the same details can be found on the council website - edinburgh.gov.uk/downloads/file/3892/grand_orange_order_march_-_road_closures_130914 The Procession will start at 1100 hours and the route will be Middle Meadow Walk, Forrest Road, George IV Bridge, Bank Street, The Mound, Market Street, East Market Street, New Street, Canongate, Abbeyhill, Abbeymount to the finish point at Regent Road. Coaches will drop participants off on the north side of Melville Drive at the start of the event before proceeding to the finish point at Regent Road, London Road and Montrose Terrace respectively. We are expecting somewhere in the region of 12,000 members of the Orange Lodge to take part, this number includes up to 93 bands. We estimate that the march will take 3 hours to complete its route. This event is the largest Orange Walk that Scotland has ever seen and Police Scotland are committed to Keeping People Safe with planning for this event in its final stages. A large number of Police Officers will be deployed along the route to ensure the safe passage of the march and to keep disruption to your business to a minimum. Due to the volume of person taking part I would ask you to remain vigilant and if your business has on street merchandise stands, to remove these to assist in the safe passage of the procession and any pedestrians on the pavements. Police Scotland will be providing live updates via social media. You can find us on Twitter (@EdinburghPolice) or on Facebook (facebook/EdinburghPoliceDivision) Many Thanks Inspector Croft Police Scotland Community Inspector - Edinburgh City Centre
