L&T CSTI Jadcharla | Larsen & Toubro Constructions Skills Training Institute Hyderabad: Understanding the need for developing skilled workforce Larsen & Toubro a USD 9.8 billion technologies, engineering construction and manufacturing company set out to regulate and promote construction Vocational Training (CVT) in India by establishing a Constructions Skills Training Institute (CSTI). The first such institute was opened in Chennai at late 1995. L&T as a part of the skills development initiative and corporate social responsibility is imparting skills training mainly for the economically vulnerable section of the society. L&T has so far set up 7 Construction skills training institutes in major cities and has trained 19000 workmen till date in all training Institutes put together. L&T training centre set up in Jadcharla, Mandal, #MehboobNagar district, Andhra Pradesh is in 6.22 acres of land. What is the Course? The institute runs 3 months short term duration course on system formwork, bar bending & steel fixing and Masonry and construction electrician trades. More trades will be added in due course. Free training is given in all the trades with stipend towards their boarding and incidental expenses. Eligibility criteria for the courses are as under: Age : 18 To 35 years Physical standards : 155 cms. Minimum weight : 45 Kgs Educational qualification Formwork Carpentry: 5th class and above (or) ITI NCVT carpenter. Bar Bending & Steel Fixing : 5th Class and above Masonry (Brick work/Block work : 5th class and above (or) ITI NCVT Mason. Electrical: 10th Class + ITI NCVT passed (Electrician / Electrical Wiremen) This Institute can train around 300 candidates at one time in all trades put together with hostel facility. The institute has been accredited by the Department of Employment and Training, as authorized vocational training provider on 11th March 2011. The candidate can appear for National Council for vocational Training (NCVT) examination and obtain the certificate. L&T facilitates testing of candidates after undergoing training. So far 450 candidates have been trained from Hyderabad CSTI and L&T facilitates the first placement for all candidates. Construction skills training thus ensures sustainable livelihood mainly for socially and economically weaker section from the society. It is also providing a scope for training school dropouts who are available in large numbers and develop them as skilled workers and in turn have a productive citizen for India. L&T facilitated setting up of National Academy of Construction (NAC) by sharing their course curriculum, train the trainers and conducting quality audit during initial set up which is now helping in the Andhra Pradesh state in skilled development initiatives.
