LIVING A LIE "Knowest thou not ... That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?" (Job 20:4 - 5) There was once a world-acclaimed scientist extolled as a pioneer in cloning human embryos. He became a national hero in his country where he was given the title “supreme scientist”. Fame and funds flowed in to support his landmark achievement. But suddenly at the height of his glory everything came crashing down. His research claims were shown to be false, there were no such breakthroughs as he announced to the world. The professor had been riding a false wave; he had been living a lie. He apologised on national television, but it was too late. He was dismissed from his university post and stripped of his honours. Worse still, he received a suspended prison term for embezzlement of research funds. You must avoid the temptation to present a false image. Hypocrisy is a sin that easily besets unregenerate and vain youths. They are eager to make an impression upon men without caring what God thinks. In the end, hypocrisy results in disappointment and dishonour. Jesus remarked that hypocrites shall be thrown into a place of “weeping and gnashing of teeth”. Avoid hypocrisy, be humble and honest. Challenge: Be lowly and true than be falsely exalted. Prayer: Lord, give me the grace for honesty. Further reading: 1 Corinthians 5:7—-11 QUOTE: You must avoid a false image
