LOST/FOUND dog/pets ads We seem to be experiencing another increase in these ads. Firstly, We regard the welfare of dogs paramount, and if MBSS can help, we feel we should. As such we turn a blind eye to the frequency these ads get bumped. The problem we are facing is, many of the dogs are not being re-united with their owners which means the ads accumulate and with continual bumping they are becoming dominating. So, I feel we need to set some guidelines to what is acceptable and fair. We are going to continue to allow frequent bumping of lost and found animal ads, however only for the first 24 hours. After that, we ask that they are bumped only every 4 hours, this also includes comments from others, if your comment is not directly assisting in re-uniting the owner, dont comment. To prevent accumulation of these ads that are never solved, we may choose to remove them after (2) two weeks. We encourage you to post your lost/found animal ads in our Pets and Livestock & Community Groups, where they are not pushed down the list as quickly as they are in MBSS. We are also willing to allow the ads to remain in MP&L as long as you require. Secondly. It is becoming quite concerning to read of so many dogs being reposted lost, and also found. We urge owners to re-assess their situation, - are your pets secure? - are your pet microchipped? - do they have identification tags? These inexpensive measures, could save you and your pet a lot of heartache. If you find a dog in a public place, please ensure it is actually lost, before taking custody, may be its not far from home and will return. - Check with near by residences, they are likely to recognise it if its from the area. - Contact the Ranger (Midwestern Regional Council {6378 2850}), they will be able to scan for a chip, and if chipped will be able to contact the owner, the vets may also be able to do the same. - Post a photo here, in our Groups and any other suitable group (Lost and Found Great and Small Mudgee and Surrounding areas).
