Laboratory Medical Technician (MLT) ValleyCare Health System - Livermore, CA JOB SUMMARY: As defined by California State regulations, Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical procedures and analyses in all laboratory disciplines to provide accurate data for health maintenance, diagnoses, treatment and monitoring of medical conditions. Performs waived and moderately complex laboratory tests as defined by State and Federal regulations. Works under the technical direction of CLS staff. Assists with the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation used in patient testing. Guides, trains and may provide mentoring to students and/or technical staff as appropriate. Maintains the highest standards of conduct in customer services, appearance and attitude. Uses best judgment in all interactions with patients, medical staff and team members. Maintains patient confidentiality according to applicable laws and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: 1. AA or BS Degree in physical and biological related field. 2. Current Medical Laboratory Technician license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health, Laboratory Field Services. 3. Generalist Medical Laboratory Technician experience is preferred. 4. Proficiency in the waived and moderately complex laboratory tests as defined by State and Federal regulations; including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis and microbiology. 5. Competent in phlebotomy and lab assistant pre and post analytical processes and duties. 6. Experience with clerical assistance with Transfusion Service product inventory, product issue, temperature recording, specimen management is desired. 7.
