Ladies: On the topic of rep ranges pertaining to muscle hypertrophy, please dont listen to gimmicky magazines, pseudoexperts, or fear mongers. Instead, listen to the scientists who are conducting and analyzing the research. Brad Schoenfeld, Stu Phillips, Chris Beardsley, and I will all tell you that higher reps build just as much muscle mass as lower reps. Light weights dont tone you and heavy weights dont automatically make you bulk up. If you train hard with sufficient effort and perform sufficient volume while adhering to a caloric maintenance, you will gain muscular shape, lose fat, and improve body composition whether you use lighter loads for higher reps or heavier loads for lower reps (within reason).
