Last Thursday I was at Galway Races for Ladies Day to take loads of pics of the style for all the Fab Fillies followers (plus to have a bet or two) but I had to leave before the winner was announced and I didnt know who had won until later that evening when I got back to Cork. I had a good look at the winner, who was a picture of beauty, and I said to myself I have seen that girl somewhere before. Sometime over the weekend the penny dropped that I had met Helen Murphy at a fashion show some months back and had spoken to her on the phone sometime after that. So not only was I thrilled that a Cork girl had taken the prize but that I knew her (a little bit!!). So I got in touch with Helen earlier this week and she took me through her winning out. The first picture is of Helen at home on Wednesday trying to put her look for Ladies Day together at short notice. The skirt was from Coast in Debenhams, Mahon Point and the headpiece was from Hattire in Cork. Helen felt the hat needed a bit of pimping up so she bought a necklace in Dunnes and took it apart and sewed the embellishment pieces onto the hat herself (very late after a couple of glasses of vino on Wednesday night with the clock ticking for the morning). Helens shoes were a bargain from Brown Thomas in the sale, €169 reduced to €49.00 by Nine West. The necklace was a gift from Ashling Mahers shop in Adare and is handmade by Ashling..(anyone thinking of buying me gifts please re-read the last sentence!!). Helens clutch is from Dirty Fabulous in Dublin and is a vintage piece...Helen spotted this on their Facebook page and they gladly posted it out to her....the power of Facebook girlies!! All in all I think we are unanimous that Helen was a humble and most deserved winner and everyone I have spoken to since agrees that the winning look was so pretty with the added bonus that all pieces could be worn over and over again, dressed up or down. Well done Helen!! xx
