Last week saw 200 countries in attendance at the Convention on Biological Diversity. Findings: none of their 20 targets have been met, more than 1/2 of all Earths vertebrates have disappeared just since 1970, Latin America alone lost 83% of all its wildlife in last 40 years, humans ecological footprint and pressures (land and water use, pollution, oceanic destruction, etc.) blamed but no direct link to the single most common factor for these pressures--our consumption of meat, dairy, and fish, and all animal agricultural systems. While our leaders are sleepwalking, its time to inspire everyone around you to become aware and take action. The time clock is ticking. --Dr. Oppenlander
