Latest NWS Mt. Holly Brief for this evening into tomorrow. erh.noaa.gov/phi/briefing/packages/current_briefing.pdf Executive summary below: - Low pressure moving north along the coast will pass slowly east of Delaware and New Jersey on Thursday. This system will affect the mid-Atlantic region from late this afternoon through Thursday. Areas closer to the coast will be most effected by this system. •Rain will overspread Delaware and the eastern shore of Maryland beginning late this afternoon, then move into southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania this evening, then the rest of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania early tonight. The heaviest rain is expected to fall overnight and Thursday morning, with higher amounts closer to the coast. Around one inch is possible north and west of the I-95 corridor, with around two inches possible near the coast. •Rain will be beneficial in most areas given the recent dry spell. No river or stream flooding is expected at this time. However, poor drainage flooding is possible where the heaviest rain happens to fall, especially closer to the coast. •Easterly winds will gust over 35 mph at times near the coast tonight and Thursday as they gradually turn to the northeast. Gusts in the 20 to 30 mph range are expected inland. •The onshore flow is expected to produce minor tidal flooding along the Delaware coast and Delaware Bay at the time of high tide tonight. Minor tidal flooding is expected along the New Jersey coast during the times of high tide on Thursday. Heavy rain at the time of high tide could make flooding worse. A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued. No tidal flooding is expected along the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. •The rip current risk along the Delaware and New Jersey coasts will remain high through Thursday.
