Law Mefor CONFAB OUTCOME FOR REFERENDUM: GEJ ON COURSE! The President courting the National Assembly this early is the smartest thing he has done. There are some dumb-head delegates who believe that the National Conference is an alternative to National Assembly, and infatc does not need the NASS, ignoring the fact that nothing becomes law in Nigeria today without the Legislative Arm at Federal and State Levels. National Assembly can pass the Clause that prescribes Referendum for a new Constitution in the ongoing exercise at the National Assembly and modify and enlarge, at the joint Conference of both Houses, their current position to now include the outcome of National Conference. But this is not where the hurdle ends. 24 States will have to concur for it to become law. Question is: with intransigent position of the APC, can their 16 States support the Bill for it to become law? If they refuse, then, the Confab will suffer a major setback. But Nigerians will have their pound of flesh at 2015 polls if APC frustrates the outcome of the CONFAB. APC should be advised not to commit political harakiri.
