Lesson 12 Recording and Translation My name is Mohammed Abulaal. Of course, you know a lot about me from Maha. I graduated from the department of English Literature (Language) at the University of Cairo where I was appointed a teaching assistant. After my Master’s degree, I obtained a Doctorate from the University of California in Santa Barbara. After obtaining my Doctorate in Comparative Literature, I decided to stay. Of course, it was the most difficult decision of my life because I am far from my family and friends. The last time I visited Egypt was three years ago when I learned of the death of the wife of my brother, Mahmoud. It was a short visit and Maha and Malik did not travel with me. This time, we will go together and stay in Cairo for two weeks. We took our yearly vacation and Maha will miss a week of class and more days off.
