Lesson from todays Lucky Dog...Theres no one set rule or guideline to dog training. Theres not one specific technique or method that works on every dog. What works on one dog might not work on the next. Training is an equation; figuring out the problem and solving it according to the breed and personality traits of that specific dog. Breed gives you a good foundation to start with but you need to figure out the specifics of your dogs personality, not the typical personality of the breed. By combining the 2 you now have a better foundation to start training. Then take the surroundings and environment of your dog. Does it live in a big city surrounded by a ton of people or out in the country where it rarely sees anyone but your family? If you have a rescue, whats the history of the dog? Perhaps it was abused or neglected. These are all major factors in training. Take the time, figure out every variable you can with your dog and thats where the training equation begins and is eventually solved. Remember...training is not a days work, its daily work.
