Letter from Josh Fox, director of Gasland: It’s been over a month since Gasland Part II premiered on HBO. I’ve spent a lot of time since then in my home in Milanville, thinking back on what an incredible journey these last five years have been. It would not have been possible without you. Thank you. Thank you for watching and sharing Gasland and Gasland Part II. Thank you for taking a stand against fracking. Thank you for showing me so much love and consistently restoring my faith in what this country can be. Embarking on this journey, and becoming part of the anti-fracking community has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. For me, this began with just a few of my neighbors in the Delaware River Basin, and now I feel like I have family in every state I’ve gone to. Recently I was able to share a monumental victory in the upper Delaware River basin, with those handful of neighbors this all began with. Hess and Newfield cancelled all their leases from Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Over 100,000 acres of land, now no longer leased. We proved that organized and passionate people can win, no matter how much money and corrupt influence they’re up against. But this was never just about my backyard getting drilled. I’ve seen the devastating impacts of fracking and heard too many of your stories. This is about all of us, and together we have a lot more work to do. I’ll be taking Gasland Part II on tour to Brussels, France and Germany, and coming back to the US for a grassroots tour through Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina. And there’s lots you can do to keep the momentum going.
