Light westerly wind is producing clean conditions on most beaches. Northern corners and open beaches are offering the bigger and better waves as the swell is SE. Open beaches will improve as the tide drops out while the northern corners are better on the higher tide but will still produce some nice waves even on the lower tide. Main breaks around town are small but the long boardrider and micro grommets will enjoy the conditions. A high pressure ridge extends from northeast New South Wales to the southern Tasman Sea, while a trough and associated cold front approach from the west. Strengthening winds will accompany the passage of this frontal system, expected to affect the southern coast later Tuesday then weaken on the northern coast during Wednesday. Behind this, the arrival of a new high pressure system on Thursday is forecast to bring a return to lighter winds. Winds: Variable below 10 knots becoming easterly 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon then tending northeasterly in the evening. Seas: Around 1 metre. Swell: Southerly 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres around midday. Caution: Large and powerful surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing. coastalwatch/surf-cams-surf-reports/nsw/port-macquarie
