Listening to Led Zep I and II... Its amazing how bad the individual tracks sound and how right they sound together. Every accoustic guitar especially sounds like crap. If they were recording it today, would they be going for the default high-fidelity recording that you get for free today unless you try to screw it up? Its also a surprise how over-driven the vocal channel is. I cant think of anyone whos copied that sound for more than a track or two, and given the popularity of LZ I cant imagine why.
