Literacy Support for HCLA Larry C. Colbourne President, Mebane Foundation and Dr. Thomas Miller, NC Charter Accelerator Program, visited HCLA on Thursday, December 4, 2014. At HCLA, we are fortunate to have received a $75,000 grant to support Literacy at HCLA. A partnership with the NC Charter Accelerator Program has given us the kind of support that fosters our success in the area of literacy. Mr. Colbournes Biography Before joining Mebane Foundation, Mr. Colbourne was Vice President of Development for Winston-Salem Industries for the blind. He had spent 12 years with Wachovia Bank in its Retail Banking and Loan & Credit Marketing Department. He is a member of the Mocksville Rotary, past president of the Winston-Salem Twin City Host Lions Club and a board member for the Davie Family YMCA. He is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Winston-Salem. He received a B.A. from Wake Forest University in 1990 and was a three-year letterman on the Demon Deacon baseball team. Even while I was working in the corporate world, I always aspired to help others. When the opportunity presented itself to join Mebane Foundation and I interviewed with Mr. Mebane, it was obvious that he had amazing vision and a great mission to help educate our children in the very best way possible. I share his vision, and I’m committed to ensuring the important works of this Foundation make a positive impact, not only in Davie County, but in North Carolina and beyond.
