Logic dictates that if people get vaccinated against influenza or FLU as it is more commonly called, they should NOT contact it and get ill from it. Why then did nearly 1/4 of Navy crewmen of the USS Ardent fall victim to it in February of this year, although - due to strict military policies - nearly all of them were given the flu vaccine? This article also points to a 2009 outbreak of the mumps in New York communities even though they were almost completely vaccinated. You cannot point out that this was due to some people not getting vaccinated at all, since what they tell you is that the vaccine is effective. If it really were, people who HAD been vaccinated WOULD NOT and, more importantly, SHOULD NOT get whatever it is that the vaccine was for; i.e., FLU & MUMPS in these cases.
