London Majors 6; Brantford Red Sox 5 (10 innings) LONDON – Ryan Lapensee hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th inning to propel the host London Majors to a 6-5 win over the first place Brantford Red Sox, snapping a 12 game Brantford win streak in one of three games played in the Intercounty Baseball League on Sunday. The win also snapped a three game losing skid for the Majors (18-14), who gave up three runs in the top of the first inning, but scored two of their own to trail 3-2 after one complete inning of play. They scored twice more in the third and once more in the seventh to go up 5-3, but the Red Sox scored a pair in the top of the eighth to tie the game 5-5, eventually sending it to extra innings. Dave Wydeven was the third London pitcher of the afternoon and picked up the win, dishing three strikeouts over one inning pitched. Cleveland Brownlee singled and homered for the home side, registering three RBI and a run scored in the win, while Lapensee finished the day with two doubles all totaled, driving in the winning run in the 10th and also adding a run scored. Larry Balkwill and Parris Austin each doubled while Austin added a run scored, and Paul LaMantia and Paul Young each registered a hit and an RBI with Young adding a pair of runs scored. It was the first loss for Brantford (30-5) since June 20th versus the Barrie Baycats. Stefan Strecker was the fifth Red Sox pitcher of the day and took the loss, giving up two hits and one earned run with one walk while registering one out. Lee Delfino hit a two run home run for the Red Sox, while Scott Thorman singled and homered. Steve Lewis had an RBI double, while Eitan Maoz singled and tripled, adding a run scored. Jeff Hunt singled, while Hyung Cho and Terrell Alliman each had a hit and a run scored in the loss.
