Looking at the hole in the ground, a seed might say it doesnt want - TopicsExpress

Looking at the hole in the ground, a seed might say it doesnt want to be planted. Buried by earth thats a thousand times heavier, dark and smothering, it might seem like a funeral of sorts, and that life is over. Dirt says you cant escape. But growth in the seed miraculously pushes through the soil to become something greater, sprouting to new heights. Seeds cannot germinate in the light, without being moist, cold, and in the dark. I understand that lifes circumstances seem to try to bury us. They may feel like theyre a thousand times stronger than we are, and yet we will win out each time, as long as like that seed, we accept the temporary circumstances of planting, and then work to arise into something greater. See lifes challenges as being planted for greater growth, not just being buried. Just like a seed, we cannot germinate in the light, in the warmth, and areas of ease...just like we cannot expect to grow as a person by sitting comfortably on the couch. Seeds germinate and begin to grow only when they are placed in the dark moist ground, where its not the most comfortable. Likewise, we only experience growth when we are placed into challenge, adversity and conflict. Only then will you come to see how powerfully you can push aside the dirt surrounding you and emerge as you were meant to. I believe in you, and in your ability to push past your challenges. Some growth in us occurs only as we face our greatest challenges. Francis Scott Key wrote The Star Spangled Banner the morning after a conflict during the War of 1812. The British were bombarding Fort McHenry and it seemed our new seedling nation of America was to be buried. But after the British navy gave us its worst, shelling for nearly 25 hours, the fort still stood, with the flag still intact. Key penned the lyrics of our national anthem while in captivity on a British ship during the conflict. As he saw the dawns early light, our flag was still there, announcing an American victory. Like Francis Scott Key, like America, we can be under attack and feel buried by what seems to be an interminable barrage of adversity. Yet if we persist and be strong, we will emerge stronger and survive any attempt to bury us. We can allow our challenges to bury us, or we can see them as being planted for greater strength. Its all about perspective.
