Love Jihad is a reality no one can deny. Its not just an Indian phenomenon. BBC did an elaborate story on it back in 2012. Israel has similar stories of Jewish girls, as per Reuters. Also called Romeo Jihad or Ishq Jihad, it is an activity under which young Muslim men target young non-Muslim girls for forced conversion to Islam by feigning love. At times they just straight rape, as that is an easier way to convert. Kerala Catholic Bishops Council said, that in 2009 up to 4,500 girls in Kerala had been targeted, whereas Hindu Janajagruti Samiti claimed that 30,000 girls had been converted in Karnataka alone. Kerala Chief Minister Chandy in 2014 said, that over 2667 girls had been converted to the Religion of Peace since 2006. This practice is rampant in UP, WB etc too. India has not done a detailed demographic study of crimes against women. But just to give you an example, according to the 2010 data, two districts of WB record 40% of the rape cases...Murshidabad, Malda. Need one say more on whodunnit? Recently Crime Patrol did a real life story on how Muslim boys are rampantly using Facebook to lure non-Muslim girls. We have also heard of cases where underage non-Muslims girls are wooed, married, converted and allegedly shipped off to Middle East countries. In June 2014, when a Hindu girl rejected advances by a Muslim in Kerala, he stabbed her entire family. In another shocking case, International Sportswoman Tara Sahdev told us how a Muslim named Rakibul Hasan used a proxy name Ranjeet Singh to marry, torture and convert her. (These are all news reports and they are innumerable such) My first reaction was Stupid Stupid Girls! But hey, these are not girls from our kinda families, they arent taught better. And even if they were, how would you explain a 20 yr old Sarita, who after aggressive wooing by Pasha, married him. But soon sense prevailed, when he started tormenting her over her religion and she left him. Only to later get kidnapped by Pasha, who gave a free reign to his sadist urge and slashed her body and face a 100 times with a blade. (Mid-day report) At that age hormones are fluttering and a bit of dedicated wooing can do the trick. The challenge for us here is to make young girls aware and frame laws to stop forced conversions and Love Jihad. For now Im glad we are discussing it openly.
