Ludhiana to fine owners of garbage-filled plot LUDHIANA: Owners of vacant plots need to be careful against their plots being used as dumping grounds. The MC plans to impose heavy penalty on owners of vacant plots, which double up as garbage zones. The owner of the vacant plot will be issued a notice as first warning if garbage is found in his plot. Elaborating on the drive, MC commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal said the private owner will be responsible for cleanliness of his plot. He also suggested construction of a boundary wall as a precautionary measure. Heavy penalty will be imposed on the owner if garbage is found scattered on his land more than once, said an MC health wing official. While rates of the fine have not been fixed, the civic body is working on the plan to execute it soon. On their part, plot owners are worried about the drive. It is good that the MC wants cleanliness. But it is difficult for people who own a plot in a remote location to ensure cleanliness, said Raman Dhir, a resident of Dholewal.
