MANDATORY MEASLES VACCINATION POLICY TO BE FORCED ON ALL FRONT-LINE WORKERS IN FRASER VALLEY, BC. HOSPITALS & CLINICS To: All Staff, Contracted Staff, Physicians, Midwives, Dentists and Volunteers in the Fraser East Region. Requirement to demonstrate measles immunity by April 4th (2014). In view of the circulating disease, as a public health imperative, all staff in the affected area will be required to demonstrate immunity to measles by April 4th in order to continue working after that date, until the outbreak is declared over. This Public Health directive applies to the areas of Abbotsford, Mission, Agassiz, Harrison, Chilliwack and Hope, BC. This directive applies to all employed, contracted and volunteer staff including credentialed physicians, midwives and dentists who access patient care areas (areas where patients are/or likely to be present). Please note that credentialed physicians, dentists and midwives are already required to be immune under the medical staff rules. Those who work exclusively in residential care facilities are not included in this directive. Residents in LTCF are immune due to age and measles in this group is less severe. Any public health directive related to direct contact to a measles case, supersedes this instruction. Unvaccinated staff in direct contact to a case will be required to isolate for 21 days after last contact.
