MITO AWARENESS WEEK - Family post #2 - challenge accepted by Scott & Patty Wilson! ALS and Mitochondrial Diseases are related. They both also fall under the scope of Muscular Distrophy as degenerative neuromuscular disorders. They are degenerative & result in loss of muscle function. They are incurable & fatal. Our son BRADEN WILSON is living with LEIGH’S DISEASE, a mitochondrial disorder. There is no cure. This is the #fireandice4mito challenge. You take a shot of hot sauce, get ice water dumped on you, and make a donation to the charitable cause of your choice. Then you challenge others to do the same to spread awareness about these incurable diseases. This is Mito Awareness Week (Sept 14 – 20), and September is an entire awareness month for mitochondrial disorders.
