Mandisa posted a video yesterday of a welcome-home party for friends that adopted domestically which is fantastic! Someone had commented: Thank you for adopting in the U.S. And not overseas. America has too many children in foster care. And with my birthday yesterday and all the reflection I was doing, I couldnt NOT respond. My response: As a father to 2 children adopted from Ethiopia (and in process of adopting 2 more amazing children), I have seen with my own eyes that Gods call on our lives and His love has no borders. EVERY child deserves a loving family. EVERY child should have the right to basic human necessities for life. The concern I have is not the families adopting from other countries. They are living out their faith and going through seasons only a living God could walk them through. They need our support, encouragement and prayers. Pray for the ones who God has nudged their hearts to foster/adopt here and they have declined that invitation. Based upon statistics of those who have thought about adopting and havent, that would more than cover the number of adoptable foster children. Church, lets be world-class encouragers to those running their races rather than be naysayers. Deal?
