May 21, 2014 - A Terrific night across the board. Weather, perfect. Group of runners was (56), tops this year, perfect. Run times, fun times, perfect. And that 10th Anniversary celebration, perfect. Earlier in the night we saw Ryan Kerrigan (18:19) take down male division honors for the 2nd time this year. Meanwhile Heather Lane (20:31) topped off her Brooklyn Half-Marathon performance with another 5k PR. Following the race, the 10th anniversary celebration. WOW! Thanks again to our club president Alan Foulds for his dedication, enthusiasm, and having such a wonderful rapport with our friends at RCTV. It has always been a wonderful place to enjoy great times with friends. Also thanks go out to Ace Foulds, Janet Nelson and everyone else who got there early to open up and set up. And a huge standing-O to all the Mystics that came, contributed, celebrated and had a grand ole time. Way to go Sharon McKenna for being the one who came closest to picking the fastest racetime over 10 years of Lake Q runs (Thanks Ted). And the walk-down-memory lane videos, too (Thanks Jen, Tad, Alan, and Mike). And just think, we have more fun coming up, too. Just take a look.... Next few weeks - Our schedule ======================= May 28 - Ice cream night at the finish line June 4 - 1st Wednesday Charity Night for My Team Triumph June 11 - June birthdays celebrated with birthday cake at the finish line June 18 - Mystery Give-Away *Prize to one runner on each reg. sheet June 25 - Club Collaboration with the Wicked Running Club (pizza, etc) July 2 - Kick off 4th of July weekend early, July charity Lots of action in store, for sure. Lastly, I want to comment on last night. Times like those that happened last night just continue to make me reflect to 3 years ago when I joined the club. For me it was the easiest of decisions. I thank Meg for being such a good friend to me and pushing me to come each week. Alicia knows what Im talking about as she became my sponsor to the world of running just weeks before. Personally, what a great break for me to be in that place on that night and to meet those who ran. I was inspired again and gained back my self-competitiveness, my health and eventually my confidence and happiness. Everyone has a reason to run, a personal goal or battle. We use these nights to support each other. Last night we celebrated those times, those triumphs and those goals achieved. Im very thankful for all thats come our way and very proud to lead our Wednesdays with so many terrific people beside me. 10 years, amazing..... Heres to many more great times with all of you. You all rock!! Cheers!! Mikey H.
