The MENTOR Initiative is pleased to invite all qualified candidate to apply for the following position: Post: Medical Program Officer Published Date: 26 December 2014 Deadline: 11 January 2015 Location: Turkey & Field Offices in Syria TYPOLOGY OF POST: Full Time Officer Category General Position Summary: Works with Medical Managers in managing the field team. Runs all lines of communication between the Medical Coordinator and the field team, reviews field data, Inventory Request forms, field issues, and safety situation. Conducts periodic field visits to monitor and evaluate all levels of the field team. FUNCTIONAL AND HIERARCHICAL LINES: The Medical Program Manager work together to manage and guide MENTOR medical activities, from the conception and development of projects through to their implementation. Manages the Medical Officers with regard to medical issues. Works in close collaboration with the Logistics, Financial and HR departments. Reports to the Medical Coordinator who is his direct line manager. Essential Job Functions: Implementing MENTOR’s Programs: Implement, with the Medical Coordinator, a series of leishmaniasis case management trainings for medical staff serving in affected areas of Syria either through centralized trainings or through on-site/job training days at their facilities. In line with the Medical Coordinator, contribute to the development and review all job aids, training manuals and related case management tools. Deliver and supervise the delivery of IEC messages as directed by the Medical Coordinator and ensure the onward training of health staff to deliver the IEC messages as needed. Organizes with the Medical Coordinator the implementation of medical activities in accordance with the project’s description Ensures the patients’ and health care staff’s comfort and security by supporting the field Coordinators and Medical Managers. Data collection & Management: Interprets the data collected and describes the developments of leishmaniasis affecting the population, its health status and the performance of health care activities under MENTOR’s responsibility. Shares his interpretation with the field teams and insists on their role in the evolution of those results. Discusses with the Medical Coordinator proposals for changes in means or strategies required to improve MENTOR’s work in existing projects. Writes regular reports reviewing objectives, activity results and changes to MENTOR’s projects to the Medical Coordinator. Knowledge & Experience: - Relevant Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university. - Experience working within an international NGO is preferred particularly those working in Syria. - Demonstrated proficiency with the MS Office software (i.e., Word, Excel) is required. - Excellent oral and written Arabic & English skills. - Priority will be given to applicants from or with work experience in Deir-Ez-Zor, Al Hasakah, and/or Ar-Raqqa.
