Medical Update ..... Things are going very well. Ive been back to work for 4 weeks (money!) and have begun walking, very short distances, without a walker. The Florida Victims Compensation organization has approved me and will be paying my medical bills. I havent heard yet, but hopefully they will compensate me for my lost wages. My company even paid for the wheelchair I desperately needed the first two months after the operation. There is some pain but I know Ive had major surgery and havent walked on my leg for almost 3 months, so I expected some pain. I gave up pain killers and use over the counter pain relievers which take the edge off the worst. I wasnt able to pay my rent for 2 months but an organization in Key West called Sisters Season very kindly paid that rent for me. Without that I strongly suspect I would have been homeless! A wonderful woman who is a buyer at Historic Tours told me about Sister Seasons and because of that I had a huge weight lifted from my shoulders. My friend, Sherry Key West, visited me constantly when I was house bound, she jumped in and dealt with my stoner landlord and, even if she didnt realize it, encouraged me so much that I became determined to get stronger and better in every way I could manage. Add to that the many gift cards and collections taken up on my behalf, keeping me from being hungry and desperate, makes me realize the power of having people in my life. Because I am a cynic, all the help I received was unexpected and wonderful. And I have to mention Kate, who I called on to get me my addition stuff (Smokes!) and taking me on my first shopping trip since I was run down (The Dollar Tree ... I love that place!). I cant believe she was so patient as I walkered my way down the aisles! All told, I am very grateful. I guess it sometimes takes something this drastic to show you how many people care about you. To everyone who took time out of their lives for so many months, and are still helping me to this day, I want you to know that I am more grateful that I can say. I may not express it or show it as much as I should (I really have problems having to have help), but you all should know that I will never forget all the kindness shown me and all the future kindness that will be shown me. Thank you all.
