***Medical Update*** Upon arrival at Carolina Vet Specialist in Winston Salem this morning, Duchess surprised EVERYONE by walking in all by herself. She had to lay down and rest but she WALKED!!!. Duchess was examined and after consulting with Dr. Hedrick at Davidson Animal Hospital a decision was made to not perform an MRI (since she is now walking) – only an ultrasound. The ultrasound shows that she has some small tumors on her liver and a biopsy will be done on them when she is spayed. When she was picked up this afternoon for transport back to Davidson Animal Hospital – she again walked to the car. J Upon arrival, she was helped out of the vehicle and took a few steps before collapsing; she rested for just a few minutes, got up and walked in on her own. My personal thoughts are (since she was found lying on the side of the road) that she may have been hit by a car (maybe not ran over) – x-rays did not show any broken bones – but this is just my personal opinion. Duchess seems to be getting stronger each day – she has gone from barley able to lift her head to walking. We should have info tomorrow as to when she will be ready for spay (biopsy will be done then). Please keep Duchess in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery and that her liver biopsy will confirm that there is nothing to be concerned with.
