Met with Minister Rajitha Senaratne within hours of his return from Delhi where he had gone to resolve the fisheries dispute in the Northern waters. Our purpose was to request some short term relief to Pulmoddai fishermen who use the Kokilai lagoon for harvesting prawns using koottu valai which is not permitted. Some compromises were suggested by Anver MPC, Thowfeek Dep Chaiman Kuchchaveli PS, and S.H.Saliheen Naleemi, Secretary of the local branch of Jammiathul Ulema and other Fishermens society Reps. Salman Faris MPS, and Ashik MPS from Kveli PS also attended the meeting.
