Minerva is a prime example of the deeply narrow-minded and self-defeating nature of military ideology. Worse still, the unwillingness of DoD officials to answer the most basic questions is symptomatic of a simple fact – in their unswerving mission to defend an increasingly unpopular global system serving the interests of a tiny minority, security agencies have no qualms about painting the rest of us as potential terrorists. theguardian/environment/earth-insight/2014/jun/12/pentagon-mass-civil-breakdown My commentary: Actually, the military mind-set is a truthful one, because when you weigh everything from a security perspective, you become completely grounded and only heeding to the facts in hand. There are potential problems for military mindset though. Lets examine. Military mind is logic oriented. Mind over heart is their motto. I saw many sayings from military personnel in social media that blessed be the one who creates a beast from himself for saying that they should become completely mission-oriented, always being on duty, and not giving a damn about any other kinds of weaknesses coming from their ordinary human natures. Thats a truthful approach either. If you are doing the rightful thing, you have to be Draconian in your work. So where is the criticism? Here: The analysis of human nature can be true, but lacks historical perspective, and the changing dynamics of it. Human animal may need a harsh rule to protect itself from dangers, thats true. Human animal should be protected from the destructive urges it has inside, thats true either. Human animals are themselves dangerous, wild and untamed, when they are allowed to do whatever they want, thats okay either. Our history is full of examples. Homo homini Lupus they said. And thats true. Now comes the criticism. That was true. Today it is true to a lesser degree. Comparing to ancient and middle ages, we do not decapitate that much people anymore. Our life lenghts are longer either. We are in progress. And it is due to the evolution of our consciousness. We are not the same animal of the past anymore. I dont distance humanity from nature with these words. We are part of nature. We are nature ourselves, actually. Then our evolution denotes the evolution of nature itself. We are not the same animal of the past anymore, and then, nature is not the same nature anymore. Military mind and ideology lacks this comprehension. What kind of an evolutionary step waiting us in all human consciousness? What is the impact of emerging technologies on human consciousness overall in this world? Take only internet, for example. We are becoming more developed. And this is going to ensure humanities better qualities to rise, like empathy. Mankind is a fast evolving animal now. And it is not that much wild anymore. And it will better itself more by time. If we see great public movements, those will be the results of realization of the wrong things in human society. Those movements will be here to correct those things. Then I have to re-quote the passage I quoted first in this post, read it again please: Minerva is a prime example of the deeply narrow-minded and self-defeating nature of military ideology. Yeah. Perhaps the problem is here: .. in their unswerving mission to defend an increasingly unpopular global system serving the interests of a tiny minority ..
