Miracles I Have Seen As Christians we are called and empowered to be Witnesses. We are all called to testify to others of what we have personally seen and heard God do in our own lives. It is our calling to share these personal experiences with others “even to the ends of the earth”. Our experiences of faith, our salvation and our personal accounts of how we have seen God work in our lives are to be told by us to others, as eye witnesses. Just like in a courtroom our eye witness testimony matters. It is firsthand knowledge, knowledge of something we have seen with our own eyes, not hearsay. We can tell others things like “God worked this miracle in my life! I got just enough money just in time to pay that bill, it was almost to the penny! It was amazing how He did it!” We don’t have to get all churchy and speak with our Godly voice like Moses when we tell people. We just need to show up and tell our story. People have come too late to tell me that God is not alive and that miracles are not real. I have seen too many with my own eyes in the last couple of years. Some were small and some were large but all were miracles and many were direct answers to my prayers and that in itself is a miracle to me! Some may argue that God is dead or there is no higher power and so miracles are chance happenings, luck or fate. The truth is, if you don’t believe in God and what He can and will do, then you won’t be bothered with miracles. I don’t believe in luck, I don’t believe in chance… I believe in God and what He tells me in His Word. I spent 38 years as a baby Christian. One pastor talking about his own past, described my past perfectly. If I had been arrested during that period of time for being a Christian there would not have been enough evidence to convict me. I was saved and stuck. But the thing that changed me, the one point in time that allowed me to access the Power and Mercy and Grace of God was when I learned that He loves me unconditionally. There is nothing I can do to make Him love me more, and there is nothing I can do to make Him love me less. I was so beaten up with guilt, and shame and condemnation over my sins and I felt so unworthy that I just knew God wasn’t happy with me. I was even taught this in church. This is a false teaching. We are made worthy and Holy by Jesus, Ephesians 1:3-14, and we should not condemn ourselves. Romans 8:1-4, our living sin-free is fulfilled in what Jesus did for us. We can’t do it on our own. Jesus had to do it for us. And if He, the Son, set’s us free, we are free indeed! John 8:36) I was convinced at that time in my life that I would never see Him work in my life. I knew He could and I knew He would, but because of the condemnation I heaped on myself I didn’t think He would do it for me. So while I did believe in miracles, I didn’t really believe in miracles and so I denied myself access to the power of God working in my life. I resigned myself to just getting by. Two years ago I had an experience that I believe may have even changed my DNA! God is real, I have seen His work and I have heard His voice speak to my heart. God is NOT dead and He wants to work in the lives of His children! He is pleased with me, and if you are a saved Christian He is well pleased with you, too! One of the early miracles I saw God perform in my life was just after I had taken a huge cut in pay at my job. After 17 years I was suddenly making less money than I was the day I started that job. My wife and I went into lock down mode. We cut our family budget and I posted some of my big boy toys for sale online. I also told my wife that we should not cut our giving. If anything we needed to increase our giving and give like our lives depended on it. Although at the time, I didn’t have any bible verses to back it up, I knew that God had taken care of us so far and I gave him the credit. I absolutely believed that He would continue to take care of us. Miracle #1- The Ham Radio One item that I posted for sale was a very expensive ham radio. And after a couple of weeks I had had very little interest. I was learning to walk in some things I had learned about prayer and faith. And that night I prayed, earnestly believing (James 5:16) that God would send me a buyer. Late that night I got a text message asking me if I still had the radio. That morning when I checked my email I found a PayPal receipt for the full amount plus shipping that had been deposited to my PayPal account sometime in the night! The radio had sold! Praise God! He hears our prayers and answers them! (1 John 5:14-15) This may seem like a small thing to pray about and ask the God of the whole universe for, and some may not think of this as a miracle. But we really needed the money, so it was a very big deal to us! Anyway, God wants to be involved in every part of our lives. And learning to exercise our faith, believing that God hears us and answers our prayers, believing in the reality of the unseen, the actual substance of things we hope for (Hebrews 11:1) was a big step in our lives as growing baby Christians. And don’t forget, I prayed for this very thing to happen and it did, in the middle of the night while I was sleeping! To me, it was a miracle and a direct answer to the prayer I had prayed the night before. Let me add that I am no giant of faith. God grants us lots of mercy and grace when we are learning to walk with our trust and faith in Him. He examines our heart not our procedural efforts and credentials. We don’t have to be Billy Graham or a priest or the Pope, to get God to hear us and work in our lives, He loves us all the same. Every saved Christian who is alive today has access to Gods blessings. God loves us all so much that He will work in our lives if we ask Him. To paraphrase another teacher I heard, God loves us so much He even carries our pictures in His wallet! Miracle #2 – Cathy’s Healing The first morning we were to work as greeters at church, my wife Cathy woke up with a full blown bladder infection. She had a fever, chills and pain in her lower abdomen. I believe the timing was no coincidence. I see this as an attack by the devil to keep us from going to church and unlocking God’s blessings in our lives when we give, be it giving money or time and effort. We had been learning that as adopted children of God (Romans 8:15), joint heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:17), we had available to us the same Spirit of Love that Jesus and the disciples have. (Matthew 10:7-8) The same love that worked miracles in the early days of the church and is still at work today. I put my hands on her stomach and I boldly told the sickness and fever to leave just like Jesus and the disciples, and many other people in the book of Acts did. I then prayed and thanked God for her healing, believing it was already done. Healing is real. It has not passed away, as I was taught for years. It is for us, right here, right now. I have seen it. We are to both give healing and receive healing. Please remember that God made us worthy to receive healing through what Jesus did. He healed all who came to Him, no exceptions. The disciples did the same after Jesus was crucified and they received the power of the Holy Spirit. The power of God’s Spirit that resides in us is who actually ministers the healing, and as Gods children we are supposed to ask for this power to work in our lives. (John 14:13-14, John 15:7-8, Matthew 7:7-11, Matthew 18:19, Matthew 21:22, Luke 11:9-13, 1 John 5:14-15, James 4:2, James 1:5, Philippians 4:6 and 4:19, John 14:13-14, John 15:7-8, and there are many more verses that describe this very thing.) I can testify that Cathy was completely healed, I saw it with my own eyes! My testimony will hold up in court! In about 15 minutes she got out of bed pain, fever and sickness free and we made it to church to greet with time to spare. The devil is a big fat liar. These first miracles were big in my life, turning points, if you will. To see God work in my life, MY life, was amazing to me, and I give Him all the glory and the praise! These were some of the first times God had shown His great love for us in miracles, and I have some other examples that I hope to share, to in effect stand before you and testify of God’s great, unlimited, unconditional love for us all!
