Miss America 2015 Competition Plans Revealed and Boardwalk Statue Dedicated During Celebration of Miss America Past, Present & Future Atlantic City, NJ - April, 28 2014 - Miss America 1984 Suzette Charles and Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri today celebrated the past, present and future of Miss America on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. This was the first meeting of the two Miss Americas as they dedicated a Miss America statue on the Boardwalk. The Miss America Organization, the Atlantic City Alliance (ACA) and the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) announced plans that are underway for the Miss America 2015 Competition in September. And Miss America Chairman and CEO Sam Haskell, President Sharon Pearce and Parade Producer John M. Best shared their vision for the Miss America 2015 Show Us Your Shoes Parade. During the press conference the Honorable Mayor Don Guardian spoke about the excitement of the continued return of Miss America to Atlantic City. President of the ACA Liza Cartmell introduced statue sculptor Brian Hanlon of Hanlon Sculpture Studio in Toms River, NJ who spoke about his work creating the statue. Miss America 1984 Suzette Charles and Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri dedicated the completed Miss America Statue in its permanent home at Kennedy Plaza on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The Miss America statue, unveiled on the Atlantic City Boardwalk last September, is symbolic of our Miss Americas passing the crown to her successor. It is a permanent representation of the Miss America legacy on the Boardwalk and a prime attraction for Miss America fans who visit Atlantic City. John M. Best and his team from JM Best Entertainment and Under the Sun Productions, who will be returning this year for parade production, are two time Emmy Award winning producers. The beloved Show Us Your Shoes Parade is just one of the many highlights of this years Miss America festivities. Every year, thousands of participants and volunteers come together to bring this event to life, as it marks the last celebration before the final night of the Miss America Competition. This event gives fans the opportunity to enjoy the elaborate floats, special performances, the 53 stunning Miss America 2015 contestants and, of course, their decorative shoes!
