Mom was such a beautiful woman. Notice what she wrote at the bottom of the photo. No doubt mom and dad were deeply in love. They met at a restaurant in what was then San Pedro. First song they danced to was, Siboney. They never forgot that and asked me to sing it for them ever so often. I guess we all owe something to time cause it always has its way with the flesh but it has been less severe on mom cause she is still a beautiful lady. If you only knew the story of her life, the lives she has touched, her contributions to society. Her story is one of endless courage. Starting with the day she was p ut on a train In Laredo at the age of 17 together with her Second cousin Elvira Hinojosa an ended up in Denton Womens University so far from home. Only two Hispanics in the whole place. Hard to call home and a severe case of culture shock. Thats just the beginning. The matter that she was a great lady and that my dad was a wonderful man matters little to me. What really matters is how much they loved each other.
