Monday, some of our DPSG Donors, Sponsors and Volunteers had a special invitation to visit Camp Pendleton for an Adventure to remember! Many thanks to our extraordinary hosts; our own Fighting Fifth Marines, Capt Patrick Joseph, and dear friend Bert Thielen SgtMaj-USMC RET for showing us the Infantry Immersion Training Center where we were able to actually be part of simulated combat scenarios which included actors, sounds and smells of an Afghani Village. We even had the treat of an Afghan lunch prior to heading back to San Mateo where we finished our day by shooting the guns in the simulator. Guests were able to take a walking tour of the Memorial Garden to see the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Monuments, a look at the new NCO Club, the Combat Dojo Fitness Center, and the soon to be renovated Father Capodanno Chapel. All possible because of our generous community of supporters! The finale was receiving a classy recognition of completion by our hosts. No casualties! Thank you to our honorable 5th Marine family for being such wonderful ambassadors of the Corps and showing our DPSG friends what Marine hospitality is all about. Semper Fi!
