Music award shows exist to celebrate and honor the musicianship of the artists. In Mumbai of all cities, artists are made to lip-sync and mime at award shows. Shame!!! Dont even want to get into how most of the Coke studios and Unpluggeds were engineered in the name of live performances. It only goes to show you how poorly music and musicians are regarded in this country and i solely blame us musicians for not putting up that fight, instead settling for some pocket money, fame or post-production in the bargain. I am proud of a few music shows like the Dewarist and Sound Trippin that are making a difference and actually educating the masses by showing them how music is made and the effort that goes behind it, earning the artists, composers, singers, musicians the respect they deserve. Keeps me optimistic about a future where all musicians insist on playing live so they stand out from the idiots and own it. We are all stars in our own way and dont need to be anybody else.Take the power back!
