My Reference Speech,ARMED FORCE TRIBUNAL,Kochi Bench Justice Shrikant Tripathi and Lt.General Thomas Mathew, Hon’ble Tribunal Members,Sri.Ramesh, Secretary to our Association, Office bearers of the Association, Senior Central Government Panel Advocate Sri.Krishna Moorthy,Government Advocates,Colleagues,Shri.K.R.Jayaprakash Narayanan, Registrar of this Tribunal, Army Personnels, Staff and friends:- I am only a substitute for Sri.M.P.Krishnan Nair, our Association President, who is out of State. I am recollecting substitutes, who were shone like anything like Amarildo who substituted Pele in 1962 Chile world cup and Salvatore Shillaci who was also a substitute in 1990 Italian World Cup. Lt.General Thomas Mathew is a veteran soldier. His decorations and medals speak, for itself. His achievements are noteworthy. After 4 years training at the National Defence Academy,he was commissioned into the Rajput Regiment of Indian Army on 21st December 1968.He has Participated in Bangladesh Operations in 1971. He was Military Attache at France, Belgium, Luxemberg and Holland from 1998 to 2002. Commanded in Delhi Area and led the Republic Day parade in 2004 and 2005.He was Awarded Vishishta Seva Medal in 2005, Param Vishista seva medal in 2008. Became Adjutant General of Indian Army in September 2006 and retired from military service on 30.11.2008. From the very inception of the Tribunal he is here. He was appointed as the Administrative Member of the Tribunal on 22.6.2009. He is very much a part of this Tribunal. His departure is painful. But we have to suffer it, it is natural. He has shown great warmth to the Bar, especially, to the junior wing of the Bar. In short, he is a loveable character. In ceremonies like Onam celebrations he has shown his loveable nature. As a Tribunal member, your decisions were unique. It was reported in various Law Journals. It is a tribute for you. Retirement from here is not a retirement from public life. Sir Winston Churchill has started his Book, History of English speaking people prior to 1939. The 2nd world war interrupted his writings. He became the Prime Minister of U.K. After his party’s defeat in 1945 Elections, he started the writing of his book, History of the 2nd world war. At that time, he was 70 years old. The said book, won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Thereafter, he completed his monumental work - History of English speaking people. I am only stressing the points that, your service to the nation and the people are not over. I request you Sir, to write and publish a book on your experiences in the various fields, by an Autobiography. It will be guidance to the younger generation. I request you Madam Mrs. Thomas Mathew, to give inspiration and guidance for the same. Once again, thanking you, for your great deeds and works. Hope you will remember us. With best wishes, Jai Hind 13.11.2013 Johnson Manayani
