My art has a lot of nutty imagination, cynicism and appropriation in it, but it also uses the faculties of the Spirit to create and is often based on some truths. The unusual thing about my art and outsider art in general is often the spontaneity for which it arrives at . . . determined mostly by chance and the Spirit. An outsider artist does not believe in producing art works for money, nor exhibiting in the usual gallery settings. Outsider artists as the article rightly points out, are not always insane, what is insane anyway? Sure many people lose their minds . . . but it is at what degree and for what reason that it happens. Unfortunately the general population is not and will not be properly scholared on psychology or art and therefore will continue to call people simply crazy, even if they are merely an Afganistan war veteran with PTSD, or an artist crazy if they have an eccentric imagination. Artists have a good understanding of humanities . . . many of us spend years focusing on it at University . . . and we have a natural knack for observation. I can see that my ex-boyfriend has never forgotten me and I never forgot him. You dont need to be Einstein to work that one out . . .
