My car, sometimes, attracts attention. Today it attracted the attention of DPS Troopers, on the road from Zapata to Laredo. First they followed me, for about three miles. Then they went ahead of me and stopped on the side of the road. As I passed by them, later, they got behind me and pulled me over. They said, Were stopping you because you dont have a front license plate. If that was all they wanted, I could have seen their point, but they gave me the third degree. Where are you coming from? Where are you going? Where do you live? What are you doing in Laredo? Who are you consulting for?. As soon as I satisfied their queries, they sent me on my way... without so much as a warning for the missing license plate (which my car has never had). Not the kind of attention I crave.
