My family and I have been grieving and in mourning for more than a month. This dreadful ordeal, which culminated in a memorial commemorating the life of my youngest daughter Ashley S. C. Walls, has brought us closer to God. Throughout the process we prayed together, got closer to each other. We realized how powerful we are when we work together. Friends whom I once thoght were just friendly stepped up and stood in the gap to keep us from falling through the cracks. Although too many to mention individually, I thank every single one of you. Ashley was and still is, an inspiration to many people. Her works are now legendary, locally, nationally and internationally. Ashley was saintly in that she seemed to fit 48 hours worth of advocy work into just 24 little hours. Although I am devastated, I am focusing on getting stronger. We want to remember Ashley S. C. Walls, but not worship or idolize her. Our God is a jealous God and he alone deserves the glory. God alone deserves to be idolized. Despite the everflowing tears, there is work to be done. The media is trying to anoint and appoint our leadership. When has that ever been a good thing? I hear Ashley saying, Dream but Dont Sleep.
