My heart is saddened once again this morning as another dear friends father has passed on to Glory but a few brief days after the diagnosis of a battle within his body against the nefarious disease of cancer, a diagnosis deemed at that time by the medical professionals to be a battle that could not be won no matter how good the fight. Known by all as Mr. Spann and by his family & those close to him as Pappy, he was a man who was a truly great person who lived on the strength of his word, the honor of his name, the respect of all others, and, most importantly the love of his family and his God. He was the epitome of what we in the Delta know as a Cotton Factor. I grew to know, like, & respect Spann Robertson long before I knew any of his children or Mrs.C. J.. I have since come to know and love them all with one holding a truly special place in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with this wonderful family as they go about the plannings and rituals involved in preparing the final tribute for their lost patriarch. Although this road they now travel is one we all too must walk down at some part of our worldly existence for in Life there is always Death, it is a road that none of us is ever prepared for no matter how sudden or painfully lingering the finality is. This Delta of ours has lost another of its Great Ones and I know he is back in High Cotton and ah Honey Hole filled with Mallards & Crappie close by.
