My heart is very heavy tonight. My baby made the toughest, most - TopicsExpress

My heart is very heavy tonight. My baby made the toughest, most mature decision of his life today. Football practice began Monday and was his first time on the field after tearing his Achilles last October. Unfortunately due to pain in his Achilles, he was unable to finish practice. At his last checkup, Dr. St. Remy said he is still suffering from Severs Disease, difficulties associated with his partial amputation and he is now dealing with Osgood-Schlatters in his knees. He released him to play with the warning that he may have to take a year off if the pain was too much. Orien told me today that it IS too much and he that he cant play football this year. Those of you that know him know how passionate he is about the game, the Back River-Panthers, his 7 years with the league and doing his level best at being a leader on his team. This year would have been his last year with the league before going to JV. He hopes to take a year off to focus on healing and allow his body to overcome the growth related pains he is dealing with. I want to say a HUGE thank you to his coach Ric Richardson who told Orien, I love seeing Ward on the back of jersey on my football field and Im going to miss having you on the field, but I love you first buddy and Im proud of you. We look forward to participating at whatever level we can with our Back River family and I thank you all for your love and support of Orien all these years.
