My inbox has been filled recently with NYC athletes asking why they have yet to receive a scholarship offer... Take a look at the video below and keep in mind that the young man in this video was only offered a partial scholarship to Hofstra, a grant package to attend Stony Brook, and an offer from Buffalo in January to play corner after catching 24 passes for 831 yards and 14 TDs his senior year... He also had an 86 cumulative average and scored a 1210 on the boards (Math & Verbal). The young man ended up walking on at Hofstra. Here is the truth... The nation does not value NYC Football or its athletes. PERIOD! Although the climate is changing we are still at the bottom of the totum pole. The PSAL and the CHSFL does not allow spring football like other states so we play less football. More truth for you... A large percentage of our athletes that do get opportunities to play at the collegiate level struggle to adjust to the rigorous demands, perform poorly in the classroom, or lack the football acumen to be successful immediately. Big Universities will not spend money to recruit NYC and will wait to offer one of our kids because they know our kids will be available. With that being said, BE PATIENT!!! Continue to dominate on the field no matter what school you attend, be even more dominant in the classroom and remove yourself from any parties or content that may throw up a red flag during the recruitment process. If you work hard and play fast you will be noticed. Learn to only concern yourself with things YOU can control. Make the plays that come to you, and most importantly STOP WHINING!!! WHINING is the fastest way to NOT get recruited!!! #DevalesTruth #IBalledOutInHighSchool #DidntMatter #IWasPissed #NobodyCared #IWalkedOn #WorkedHarder #ProvedThemWrong #EarnedMyMoney
